Proud to be Colombian

Colombia just ruled that Gays will have the same/equal rights as straights! Everyone is entitled to their preference, and also entitled to have the same treatment. We have crossed so many bridges and I am starting to believe that 2009 will be an amazing year. Click on the title to read the full story!

Think Pink!Warm colors like pink and red can enliven your love life considerably. Soft shades like rose, salmon and coral can attract a gentle partner who is attentive to your needs, while bold colors like scarlet, crimson and burgundy will draw a passionate adventurer to your side.

EUI?

Emailing under the influence!!! Googles new service, called Mail Goggles, is now going to require you to solve 5 simple math problems under 60 seconds in order for you to send out an email. This will only be required late-night on the weekends! I needed that service last week!!! How awesome is that, now if only they would come up with something for drunk texting (I'm a huge fan!)

Hotel Rivington

Yesterday was a long, tiring, but fabulous day. One of my besties had a photoshoot, and we shot at the Hotel Rivington. It was my first time in that hotel and it was so unique, very low key and so sexy. Everything was dark and red, the elevators were cushioned with mirrors... hmmm, and each room is unique. We shot in a room that was surrounded with windows, the view of NYC was amazing. The bathroom was this bright lemon color and the tub fit about 5 people! The shots came out amazing, he had a beautiful subject! and I, the creative director, made sure we had the best outfits and the flyest settings. Cant wait to show you the pics! The shoot started at about 2pm and we got outta there at 830pm. Long... but worth it! If you have the chance, stay at least a night in this hotel, its great!

Good Morning!!

Hope you all had a great weekend. I had a pretty decent one. It started a little early though, going out on Thursday with my big bro, which was tons of fun! Check the pics out!Saturday, I took care of the little one aka Pumpkin.. he's the best. Then I went to see someone and learned alot about myself and whats in store for the rest of the year. Clarity, is what I ask for most. Once you can see things for what they are, you have the power to make the right or wrong decisions...

Free Cosmetics? True...

I didn't want to write about this until I went out and found out the truth, I wanted to report the facts to all my loyal readers, yes, all two of you! Well, I went to the mall yesterday and went into Macys, and it was madness!!! There were about 10 tables filled with different cosmetics, anything from skincare, makeup to perfumes. All you had to do was say that you bought something, no proof needed. The line wrapped around twice, now we all know I don't do lines... in any sense of the phrase(haha), so I stood sideline and observed. People bought their families, teenagers, husbands, abuelitas, thier babysitters, anyone you can think of, it was so ridiculous! But times are tough, so I understand... Besides Valentines Day is coming up, some can save that free gift and "regift" it! Ok, after my observations that Macys was just a madhouse, I walked over to Neimans, they were smart- had a huge red sign stating "SOLD OUT". I walked over to the Dior counter and asked the lady what the deal was, she said that on the 20th over 5000 people showed up for the freebies, they were gone the same day. Now I know where all the unemployed were... Jersey does have the highest rate. So, for the many of you who were lucky and determined enough to get the free goodies, Congrats! "Free" is always fabulous!

Destruction Therapy

Okay- so maybe I have been living under a rock for the past couple of years, although I truly believe I did hear about this, but just brushed it off. Now in difficult times like these, this little bit of info is useful. Plus, I am so relieved that I don't have to punch holes in my walls, when I get mad anymore,kidding-a lil- Anyway-now I have options! I can use different tools to destroy objects such as cars, refrigerators, tv's, washers and dryers, etc... These three Spaniards, who first came up with "Destruction Therapy" in 2003,made taking frustrations out, that much more enjoyable and legal! I wonder if I throw a brick thru his window... can I call it Destruction Therapy and get away with it? I'll let you know after the weekend! xoxo

Mark your calendars!!!

Attention all you recessionistas out there! Here are just a few dates you may want to put in your outlook, or if you are old school like me, then you'll write it down in your FranklinCovey Planner.
Erickson Beamon- Fly jewelry designs especially made for Target- Feb 15th
McQ- Yes! THE Alexander McQueen for Target-Start looking like Madonna on March1st
Felix Rey- So many beautiful bags coming to Target- March 29th

Remember ladies, quality over quantity- its not how many of something you have, its how you ROCK those certain somethings!!!

And who am I to blame when it all falls?
Running on empty, not enough to ever be filled, is it to much to ask, for something that is real?
Who am I turning to when my mind doesn't answer my hearts calls.
When everyday I get more than what I bargain for. I didn't ask for this, I didn't ask for that, thinking about this all, I really don't feel like going fucking tit for tat.
And who am I to blame, when all my rights go wrong, feeling like its all over, not knowing where to go, am I the same one? The same one that was once so strong?
Please forgive me, I have myself to blame and the oItalicnly one now that is burdened with the pain.

I like pain... I think?

What happens when his diamond words turn to ice? When everything you thought he was, he's not, when everything you wished he would be, he wont. But for some reason you stay. Can love really have this strong hold on me? I am truly starting to believe that I subconsciously enjoy hurting myself, I think I secretly enjoy this pain, why else would I stay?

Day of Change

Happy Inauguration Day!!! Seems like a lot of people decided to stay home today, some are even saying today should be a public holiday. I could have used an extra day! Today is a very special day, history in the making. May God bless President Obama and guide him in making the right choices for this country that so desperately needs to be picked up off the floor. I pray for better days and for the future of our country. No one said this would be easy- but its how we rise that truly determines our character.

Happy Birthday...

Aaliyah would have turned 30 years old today. May she rest in peace.

LOUBOUTIN'S - Worth it?

Check out the new Christian Louboutins that just hit stores. It will only cost you about $1995.00 plus tax- Chump Change! But hey, if you got it-then I say go for it! I personally, would rather hit up NineWest and get 15 pairs for that price!

Barack & Michelle-Dangerously In Love?

Beyonce is going to sing Barack and Michelles first dance! They are trying to keep the song top secret... but I feel Dangerously in Love would be such a great song for the couple. Beyonce is also performing at the Neighborhood Ball on ABC along with Jay-Z, will.i.am, Mariah Carey, Alicia Keys, Shakira, Sting, Faith Hill, Mary J. Blige, Stevie Wonder and Maroon 5. Definitely a night to remember!

No Lo Vas A Creer!!!

Okay- so I don't usually spill all my dirty little sale secrets, but a friend told me about it and as your fellow and loyal Recessionista, I feel it is my duty to bestow upon you this great piece of information... Nine West on 18th and 5th is have a MAJOR shoe sale!!! Most shoes are at $29.99 with 40% off on top of that!!! I got 3 pairs of shoes for ... wait- hold on to your panties- ready? 3 pairs for $54 bucks!!!! Not even what the cost of one shoe would be!!! I walked out of there feeling so good, because not only did I help my pockets, I helped the economy at the same time!!! Get there quick because women were not joking around, everyone walked out with more than just a pair!

A new Doll for the Pussycats?

Rumor has it that Kelly Rowland, previously from Destinys Child, is a front runner to replace Nicole Sherzinger from the PussyCat Dolls. Supposedly Nicole will be leaving the group soon and Kelly wants to take helm. Her manager, Matthew Knowles(Beyonces manager/dad) is said to be working overtime for this to happen. In my opinion, Kelly doesnt have what it takes to be the "new" Nicole. I just cant picture her doing all these suggestive, stripper- like, crawling on the floor, touching yourself from hair to toes dancing moves... Would Mrs. Carter approve?

My Upset

So, I come home from teaching basketball , to watching basketball and what a miserable game to watch, coming off a winning streak, my man lost to the Celtics. He was injured in the first quarter, so I knew then, it would be a difficult night... We play again tonight at 7:30pm. Tune in and support my future husband! ;)

Nets - 86
Celtics- 118 - Final

Last Night

Was so much fun! It was my first day volunteering at the Little Ferry Youth Center. I was teaching 1st grade through 5th grade girls the basic techniques of basketball. Okay, so I'm not in the WNBA, but I did play 6th through 8th grade, guard... And I was good! These little girls were so cute and were having so much fun, they actually listened. It made me feel so good, cant wait until next week! Anyway-if I can find the time to volunteer and do something for my community, I know many of you can too. Its so rewarding, and it helps to take your mind off the negative things going on in your life. Give it try, it aint so bad! xoxo

Okay, so about a week back, I wrote that maybe NY City Hall would be my wedding "destination"- but this right here, is just a little much...

Say Goodnight to the Virgin...

I heard/read this a while back and now its really happening. Come April, one of my favorite stores will be shutting its doors- The Virgin Megastore in Times Square is closing. Its a really sad thing- it was my favorite Tuesday night spot, it actually holds a lot of memories, I used to spend hours there with one of my favorite people. But all good things must come to an end... right? The only good thing to come of this is probably the fact that we can buy things at 50% off! They have such fly stuff there, from Junk Food T-shirts to very risque books to tons of old school collections- Virgin will definately be missed, and for now, we still have the one in Union Square!

Daily Feng Shui Love Dose

DO Keep the Television Out of the Bedroom:Nothing kills romance like the drone of late night television. If you have trouble falling asleep, try unwinding by reading love poetry or romantic novels. Your subconscious will shift accordingly, making you a virtual love magnet.

Golden Globes...

I have to admit- what many criticized, I admired- I absolutely LOVED Renee Z black see-thru dress, thought it was such a great risk! Beyonce looked very voluptuous and beautiful as always and Anne Hathaway was drowned out by her deep blue gown, looking pale as ever. I thought Tracey Morgan looked like one of the servers, and his acceptance speech? Was I the only one who thought he was on something? Mickey Rourke looked a hot mess, but hey, he won the big one- so-Congrats! Kate Winslet, I had the pleasure of meeting her several times at my previous job, and oh how she deserved to win. I plan on seeing Revolutionary Road this weekend. Although it wasn't a hit with the ratings, I enjoyed watching it. Is there anything better to watch on a Sunday night, besides Rich Bride, Poor Bride?

New to This...

So sue me... I''m not quite the quintessential blogger yet... so I apologize for missing a couple of days. Last night was a trainwreck... literally... there were signal problems with good 'ol NJ Transit that almost made two trains slam into each other and therefore cause me an hour and a half delay... Just what I needed to end my day...
My weekend was decent, did a little shopping on Saturday before the endless snowfall began... rather quiet on the homefront.
Something did bother me though on Sunday- I went to the family room and caught my 10 y-old niece watching "Wanted" with Angelina Jolie. I was so disturbed by this... I think at 10 years old I was still playing with Rainbow Brite and my Gloworms, and watching My Little Pony cartoons. Is this what its come to? A 10yr old watching Ms.Jolie get buttass naked and dropping "F" bombs left and right?
Just like that Hannah Montana(Miley Cyrus) chick, all her sitcom teaches kids is how to be deceitful and how to talk back to your parents. We need some new age Cosby Show back in our lives... To me... they were ideal.

Daily Feng Shui Love Dose

Do change the position of the bed when your romance has ended.

Heel Heaven!

I walked into the shoe repair shop about two days ago and the short, Cuban viejito(Jorge) behind the wooden wall, came around and greeted me with a hug and kiss, he then continues to ask me questions on how my dentist appointment went. Whats wrong with this picture? Why does this man know more about my life than the people who I reside with? While waiting for him to put 5 pairs of my "fixed" shoes, I started to to realize that I have been spending more money on fixing my shoes, then the shoe itself! Okay... I might be exaggerating just a little-but really, I see this man every week for different shoes to fix! I'm definitely helping him out during these tough economic times! Well, no more! I have found the PERFECT fix! In this winter weather, my most prized possessions(my heels), will no longer be abused, dragged, scraped or scratched, they will no longer have to endure the pain that the snow, sleet and hail place upon them... I am very pleased to bring to you... the Swim Galoshes and SoleMates heel protectors. The heel protectors are available now, but we will have to wait until March 2009 for the Swims.
There is no limit on how far we go to protect our most prized possessions!

Check them out!

Happy Shopping!

Big Wedding... Is it for you?

I was speaking to my really good friend and coworker yesterday about weddings and how I always planned on getting married. I was never really the one to want the "fairytale" wedding with 5000 people(85% of which you have no idea who they are, the other 15% you know, and will be criticizing every step of the way.), the big princess dress, etc- not for me. I wanted the destination wedding, with maybe 10 people around me-tops, very simple,intimate... besides isnt a marriage between 2 people? Just so much hoopla, gets me dizzy just thinking of it!!!

This morning my friend emails me this fabulous story and I've decided... this will be my "destination" wedding... Love it!!!

Daily Feng Shui Love Dose

DO decorate with peach in your bedroom if you are a single woman, for this is the color that attracts a good man.

The Convenient Girlfriend

Convenient-
1.Suited or favorable to one's comfort, purpose, or needs
2. a. Easy to reach; accessible
b. Close at hand; near

I'm not sure how many of you fall into this category, but I think its safe to say that a lot of us have felt this way at one point in our lives- if you haven't? Congratulations~
A relationship- at HIS convenience, is what I am referring to. How did we let it get to this point? The point in which he needs you to type up a letter of recommendation for him, so alluvasudden those phone calls start coming in. He needs to borrow your car for a couple of days, so the friendly text messages start. He doesn't want to attend his friends wedding by himself and he knows FOR SURE you will say "yes", so he asks you to go with him last minute. His friends have gone out Saturday night with their girls, and hes left alone- he calls you, knowing you will fly over to him.

Why are we so available? Why don't we realize that we have options and can do so much better? Why do we feel we must settle? Why do we fall into this "convenient" rut?
We continue to get used- and for whatever reason... we like it?
Are we here just to serve a purpose and if so, what in the world can that be?

La costumbre es mas fuerte que el amor

Break the cycle ladies... we too can call the shots...

I will touch on every subject you can imagine and give you a perspective from a real, young woman working to get through life(and love) in the city.
